REAR END COLLISION CAR ACCIDENT LAWYER MINNEAPOLIS MN-Defensive driving pointers for Winter Driving Conditions.
Allow extra space for the car behind you to stop in order to avoid rear end collisions.
Rear end collisions account for the largest percentage of car accidents.
The CAR ACCIDENT LAWYERS at the Minnesota Injury Law Center offer this helpful defensive driving tip for avoidance of rear end collisions:
When slowing down in traffic, always slow down well ahead of your stop, leaving extra space between you and the vehicle ahead. Tap your brake lights give the driver of the car behind an earlier warning of the impending stop. Watch the vehicle behind carefully. If it does not appear to be having enough room to safely stop without hitting your car, you can then pull ahead and give that car the extra space to stop that you provided for yourself, thus providing an extra measure of safety for yourself as well.
2. Do not allow the car behind to tailgate. If you do, you are placing yourself at risk. Simply activate your emergency flashers to place the driver behind on notice that the tailgating behavior will not be tolerated.
3. In conditions of ice and snow, you should always test your brakes to determine the braking conditions of the roadway. Then maintain a reduced rate of speed commensurate with the braking conditions.
